I usually don’t have a lot of time on a morning to worry about breakfast. However, it IS the most important meal of the day! Making sure your body is properly fueled and nourished is essential first thing in the morning- it prepares you for a busy day, it jump starts your brain and your muscles, and it keeps you full so that you can focus on your day instead of worrying about 11 am munchies! Studies have shown that people that start their day with a sensible breakfast make much better decisions about what they eat for the rest of the day.
I love this recipe, because it’s so easy and light, but it powers me up for the entire morning! Fennel isn’t a commonly found smoothie ingredient, which is a shame because it’s really neutral with a slight licorice flavour, and it’s full of benefits such as fiber, vitamin C, and vitamin B6. Celery and cucumbers are both rich with antioxidants, and despite their high water content also contain fair amounts of vitamin C, B6 and K. Spinach is one of my favourite power veggies! It’s so good for you, and it really is essential in any green juice!
Chlorella powder is absolutely incredible! This superfood is rich with phytonutrients, including amino acids, chlorophyll, beta-carotene, potassium, phosphorous, biotin, magnesium and the B-complex vitamins,it’s completely natural- it’s made from freshwater algae.
Apples, avocado and lemon add not only flavour, but also extra nutritional benefits to make sure your green juice is well rounded with everything you need for the day. Drink up! And, as always, eat well to live well!
Green Power Juice
- 1/2 Fennel
- 2 Celery Stalks
- 2 Cucumbers
- 200 g Spinach
- 2 Green Apples
- 1/2 Avocado
- 1 tbsp Chlorella powder
- 2 tbsp Hemp Seeds
- Lemon Juice of 3 lemons
- 1. Juice fennel, celery, cucumbers, spinach and apple in a juicer. 2. Pour juice into a blender, and add the avocado, chlorella powder, hemp seeds, lemon juice and ice. Blend until smooth and silky!
